Michiyo Kogure is living a perfectly fine life with her husband, when another man says he loves her, and will she meet him. She shows her husband the note, and he thinks little of it. But her would-be lover asks her again and again. Eventually she goes to his apartment, where he assalts her. She leaves. Now she falls in love with him.

It's from the novel by Yukio Misihima -- he has a role here -- and this is undoubtedly one of those works that the Japanese say westerners can't understand: that's it's perfectly fine for a man to attempt to seduce and even rape another man's wife, but it's terribly, terirbly wrong for her to fall in love with any man save her husband. I dispute the claim. It's sexist nonsense, blaming women for being desirable, and for having feelings of their own. How very wrong women are!

It's well performed, well shot nonsense.
