The Black and White Scenes were shot on Yasmeena Ameera Hassim's 4th birthday. The other footage was shot when she was younger. The shooting ratio was 200:1 The film was edited with 12 different versions. 'The Child Star' won the Most Original Film Award at The Rising Pictures short film festival held at Fox Studios, Moore Park Sydney in April 2012. A scene from KHATABAH (MATCHMAKER) directed by Ridwan Hassim (appears as himself- 'Father' in 'The Child Star') appears in this short film where Yasmeena is in a baby cot; she was 3 months old in that scene. This film is archived at the NFSA (National Film and Sound Archive) in Canberra, Australia as part of the short collection with the directors other two short film, 'The Beach' and 'Khatabah' and two short plays, 'The Job Hunter' and 'Humptie de Umptie'.
