Killer cougar, crash-landing and bible bashing adventure

Faith-based survival adventure in which a family is forced to make a crash landing in the California desert whilst the local sheriff and deputy are on the hunt for a killer wildcat.

The early cougar kills are reasonably well staged and the film briefly looks like it might be something thrilling. Alas the scripture comes in too thick and fast, the cougar becomes a secondary plot and soon we're following the plight of a twelve year old amateur survivalist whose the only hope the family have of being rescued.

The holy message fits just fine into the storyline except that the sermons are so repetitive and shoehorned into the dialogue that it jars the momentum, the physical dangers the characters face overtaken by existential threat by the time the twin storylines eventually intersect.

Boasting stunning landscapes and well orchestrated animal wrangling, there's manifold opportunities for thrills and excitement in this survivalist adventure if only the preaching had augmented the plot instead of consuming it almost entirely.
