De Sade's work in Athens

Marquis de Sade's scandalous novel "Philosophy in the boudoir" was translated and adapted by Heraklis Logothetis and Giorgos Papatheodorou is staging it at the Athens Theatre. The extreme and the invitation are constants in the literary work of the French author, whose oeuvre includes the heretical "120 Days in Sodom". "Philosophy in the boudoir", a work bordering on pornography, opens the curtain of the bedroom of the 26-year-old libertine M. De Saint-Ange and allows us to see how she introduces her 15-year-old friend Eugenia to the secrets of sexuality. It was published for the first time in 1795 and as Heraklis Logothetis underlines in his note: "It is a scandalous parody of the pedagogical novels that were particularly popular in France in the 18th century." Alexandros Martzoukos, Dimitra Burnele, Kyriaki Ypsilanti, Iulia Falia, Nestoras Auchianes and Stelios Vergos are playing.

Marquis de Sade's acclaimed novel "Philosophy in the Boudoir" was first published in 1795 and is a scandalous parody of the pedagogic novels that were particularly popular in 18th-century France. The novel concerns the seduction of the young Eugenie by the promiscuous Dolmanche and her initiation into the philosophy and practices of extreme hedonism. The play is presented from December 12 and every Friday at the "En Athens" theater, in two performances, at 21:15 and at 00:00 in a translation and free theatrical adaptation by Heraklis D. Logothetis and directed by Giorgos Papatheodorou. The scenery and costumes are by Maria Damiris, the music by Sakis Tsilikis and the lighting by Kostas Efrosyni. The actors play in order of appearance: Alexandros Martzoukos, Dimitra Burnele, Kyriaki Ypsilanti, Iulia Falia, Nestoras Afhianes and Stelios Vergos.
