Inverted has a few entertaining moments, but overall it misses the mark

I recently watched Inverted (2024) on Shudder. The storyline follows a cult that needs more recruits for an upcoming battle against the Second Coming of Christ. They kidnap random strangers and put them through a series of tests to determine who meets their standards.

This picture is directed by Tristan Clay (Red Eye) and stars Susan Lanier (The Hills Have Eyes), Maria Jackson (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and Hannah Keeley (Waltz).

This is a pretty bad movie. It feels like a group of friends got together and decided to make a film. It features one of the worst wigs I've ever seen, one of the worst orgy scenes I've ever seen, and generally lame sex scenes. They even managed to botch a throat-slashing sequence.

If you're looking for something positive, the chemical reaction sequence was fun, the cult gathering near the end wasn't bad, and the machete kills were pretty good. It just left me wondering why we didn't get more of that.

In conclusion, Inverted has a few entertaining moments, but overall it misses the mark. I'd score it a 4.5/10.
