Good rom com ruined by bad intrigue and faux drama

I was only able to find and watch 62 episodes (one youtube), so this is not a review of the entire series.

Had I stopped watching after the first 15 episodes this would be a solid 7-8. It was funny, cute, quirky, and romantic. Unfortunately, the writers got too enamored with trying to turn it into a Quin Chinese court drama and everything went downhill from there.

Actually, if I were just reviewing the last 20 episodes (42 - 62), it would be 2 -3 stars; those episodes were absolutely terrible.

Almost all of the later episodes had too much dialogue and too many flashbacks. Since TV and movies are a visual medium, they should have "shown" more and talked less.

The acting, costumes, and sets were top notch; though many of the action scenes could have been done better. Also, once we got past the first 15 episodes, I didn't really care too much for the main female character (the character, not the actress). She was far too shallow, abrasive, manipulative, and flighty.
