The film follows the journey of these young people in the small town of Serra do Ramalho, in the arid lands of Bahia, and society's reaction to this singular story, in a place marked by machismo and homophobia, where sexuality is directly linked to divine ties, marriage, and procreation.

For in Brazil, despite all efforts to respect differences, prejudice and acts of violence against anyone who deviates from the "normal" or "divinely natural" norm still persist widely. The film, which denounces this state of affairs by following its protagonists and their struggle to break free from these constraints, is perhaps a little too didactic. Given the irresistible charm of the protagonists, it's difficult not to become attached to them and follow with great curiosity the unfolding of their marital drama-their internal struggles to resolve-and the rejection they face from their town. The screenplay loses its way somewhat by seeking metaphors elsewhere.

The film is nonetheless captivating. The main theme is handled with finesse, and the modern, young, and courageous characters are presented with subtlety.

The ending is abrupt and tinged with bitterness.
