[Crow Daddy reaches for his gun]
Abra Stone: I don't imagine Rose will be too happy if you shoot the prize.
Crow Daddy: I don't suppose Rose will be happy about any of this. And when that woman gets mad... well... seems to me you know enough to know you might wanna sit this one out. Count your blessings, go on your way.

The Bartender: [Jack takes a drink] A man tries. He provides. But is surrounded by mouths that eat and scream and cry and nag. So he asks for one thing, just one thing for him, to warm him up, to take the sting out of those days and the mouths eating and eating and eating everything he makes, everything he has. A family. A wife, a kid. Those mouths eat time. They eat your days on Earth.
[pours another drink]
The Bartender: Just gobble them up. It's enough to make a man *sick*. And this
[offers Dan the glass of whiskey]
The Bartender: ... is the medicine. So tell me, pup... are you going to take your medicine?
Dan Torrance: [tearfully] ... I'm not!
[Jack knocks the glass away, smashing it]

The Bartender: [Dan tries to talk about Wendy's death but Jack ignores this and offers him a drink] Maybe something warm... to push away such unpleasantries.
Dan Torrance: Don't you want to hear about it? She was your wife!
The Bartender: I think you've mistaken me for someone else. I'm just the bartender.
Dan Torrance: Oh, yeah. Just Lloyd the bartender... pouring joy at the Overlook Hotel.
The Bartender: I'll pour whatever you like, mister Torrance.
Dan Torrance: Oh, Dad... this drink will cost an awful lot!
The Bartender: Your money is no good here. Orders from the House.
Dan Torrance: It will cost more than money. It will cost me eight years... eight behind me and who knows how many in front of me.

The Bartender: I apologize mister Torrance. I don't know where everyone is, but it will pick up.
Dan Torrance: Oh, I know where they are. And you're right... it will pick up.

The Bartender: If you don't mind my saying Mr Torrance, you seem... put upon.
Dan Torrance: Put upon?
The Bartender: Ain't that the way? Man just living his life, trying to do his work, is put upon... pulled into other people's problems. I see it all the time, if you don't mind my saying.

Dick Hallorann: They eat screams. And drink pain. And they've noticed that little girl.

Rose the Hat: I see the grease all over you. You don't 'shine' quite the same. Growing up spoils that, I guess.

Grampa Flick: I'm scared.
Rose the Hat: No, you're not. You watched empires rise and fall; cheered the gladiators in Rome; sailed across oceans to new worlds while you fed on kings and princes and popes. They wrote myths of you and made statues and they trembled in their villages and beds and skyscrapers. So no, you're not scared. You're a king and you eat fear.

Grampa Flick: We are the True Knot, and we endure.
Grampa Flick: [Rose chanting her True Knot foreign language] We are the chosen ones.
Grampa Flick: [Crow Daddy, Diesel Doug, & Apron Annie chanting their own foreign language] We are the fortunate ones.
Grampa Flick: [Short Eddie, Barry the Chunk, & Silent Sarey chanting their own foreign language] What is tied, cannot be untied.
Grampa Flick: [when the wind was blowing] Here is a woman. Would she join us? Would she tie her life to our life?
Short Eddie, Barry the Chunk, Silent Sarey: Yes.
Rose the Hat: [quietly] Say "yes".
Snakebite Andi: Yes.
Rose the Hat: [holds a bottle] This one's special. Her name's Violet. There is not much of her left. And she tastes...
[opens up the can]
Rose the Hat: ...like flowers.
[blows the dust inside of her mouth, then gasps silently, kneels down on her, then breathes in]
Rose the Hat: Breathe deep.
[Andi exhales and then blows the dust inside her]
Rose the Hat: There, embrace it.
[Andi gasping when wheezing]
Rose the Hat: Embrace it.
Snakebite Andi: [gasping loudly then groaning, but still wheezing when Apron Annie and Silent Sarey pushes Andi's stomach while screaming] NO!
Snakebite Andi: [screaming continues] NOOOOO!
Snakebite Andi: [Shrieking out loud] AAAAAAH!

Rose the Hat: You're wondering why I'm wearing such a funny hat. I always wear this hat. So much it's a part of my name now. My friends-my very, very best friends-they just call me Rose the Hat.
