Veteran actor Chiezo Kataoka. portrayed the eccentric Private Eye character Bannai Tarao in eleven movies from 1946 until 1960, but unfortunately only a couple are known with Eng subs. The low budget crime series features super sleuth Bannai a master of disguise, with a swift change, he chooses between seven different faces for an inconspicuous persona when solving a case. Here in this adventure Bannai goes undercover to help the police crack a gun smuggling operation which is supplying hand guns to local criminals. Intuitively Bannai turns up at police briefings and surprisingly he is always at the scene of the crimes, obscured behind one of his costumes & faces. A fast paced thriller, the film opens with a distinctly B noir feel however Bannai's easy going nature, his lively characterizations & philosophical quips take the edge off any sinister or dark moods..
