Using actual documents from Morell's own files (among others), the documentary presents a solid case that Hitler was quite high through much of his reign. He never let the doctor out of his sight, as he was addicted to the daily injections of Morell's special vitamin cocktail, which included methamphetamine.

This wasn't at all unusual at the time, as the entire German army was medicated with Pervitin, a stimulant that could keep them awake for days and was largely responsible for Germany's successful blitzkrieg in Europe, taking over countries in record time. Other countries used stimulants, too, among the troops, but not to the extent Germany did.

Also fascinating was the footage of Hitler's rapid physical decline during the years under Morell's care. His addiction could also explain his illogical decision to invade Russia during deep winter, which contributed to the Reich's ruin. In fact, many of his later military decisions make more sense when seen through the lens of addiction. It's a great film about one of the many facets of WW2.
