The series takes place in a town called Ladner. However it is actually filmed in and around Vancouver BC, including a small town outside of Vancouver also called Ladner. The town shots used of fictional Ladner are real locations in Ladner BC.
Actor Troy Rudolph, who played Jason Fenwick in the episode "Bingo Tell it on the Mountain," had previously auditioned for the pilot episode as Det. Hyde. While he did come close, Jonathan Young was ultimately cast. Rudolph later congratulated Young on the set of the series, telling him, "I read for this role and came close, but you're so much better than I would have been that I can't even be mad."
