No pun intended - East Germany was mad ... if you never lived there I think it is tough to grasp the concept of what it was to live like ... I reckon if you really wanted to, you could have a decent life ... but you had to give up on so many things.

We totally get what the main character has to go through ... we may not cosign all his decisions ... especially those that put others to danger ... but it is in his nature ... the timing of it all ... also quite the weird joke life sometimes plays on us ... you'll understand ... when free seemed far out.

Acting is really good - and the basic story works ... especially towards the end. Also the movie shines a light on many absuridities ... are willing to go through sime.
