When another brave victim finally comes forward to tell her story, the police are at long last forced to connect the scattered pieces of the puzzle together. A massive public appeal is launched for further victims to make contact, and the horrifying true extent of the predator's crimes is fully realised when dozens of traumatised women step forward.

This is a profoundly powerful and compelling third episode, but one that leaves the viewer feeling incredibly angry at the sheer scale of the institutional incompetence and systemic failure on display. It is entirely heartbreaking to imagine being in the shoes of these victims, who not only had to deal with the initial trauma and the insult of being completely disbelieved, but now have to bear the crushing knowledge that other women were subsequently attacked because the police closed their eyes. There is a small glimmer of light now that a proper manhunt has finally been mobilised, but the prevailing atmosphere remains one of profound frustration at a broken system.

The production team continues to do a marvellous job keeping the focus exactly where it belongs, though it is perhaps a minor shame that they heavily trailered the pivotal sequence featuring the massive group of women arriving at the station together. It remains an incredibly potent and heavy moment that effectively hammers home the industrial scale of the horror, but it loses a fraction of its television punch because we have seen it used so prominently in the promotional clips. For those that know South Wales, there is a distinct moment of recognition when the police station exterior appears; the production has cleverly utilised Swansea's own Civic Centre, a legendary concrete eyesore that is thankfully earmarked for demolition, but fits the bleak aesthetic here perfectly.

The acting remains absolutely on point across the board, with every single cast member playing their respective parts with a quiet, unflashy perfection that respects the real-world material. While there are plenty of well-known British television faces popping up in the background as the investigation expands, it is once again Aimée-Ffion Edwards and Aasiya Shah who completely steal the show. The two performers share a truly powerful, emotionally raw scene together in this hour that serves as the absolute emotional spine of the entire episode, beautifully illustrating the shared bond of survival.
