Director Statement Ney was born almost like an explosion - an intimate impulse, difficult to contain, emerging from a context shaped by tensions that are not always visible, but deeply felt.

The film was conceived within the political and social landscape of Brazil in 2022, a period in which different layers of experience began to coexist in conflict. Between the anticipation of the World Cup and the approach of a presidential election, the country seemed to oscillate between celebration and rupture.

Within this space of contrasts, we follow the genuine passion of a young boy for football, the World Cup, and the sense of belonging it carries. Through Ney perspective, what emerges is not only enthusiasm, but also the silent contradictions that permeate the world around him.

Familiar symbols - such as the green and yellow jersey - cease to be mere expressions of identity and begin to carry layers of meaning that escape the child's understanding.

Ney is about the end of innocence - of a child and of a nation.
