    • Trivia
Deiter Strohmeier, the philosopher that Cayden studies in graduate school, is completely fictional.

Here is the fictional bio director Brian Plungis wrote for Strohmeier: "The fool will search endlessly for the Infinite Truth, and believe he is worthy of its knowledge. The wise man will simply appreciate its existence." -Deiter Strohmeier, 1889

Deiter Heilwig Strohmeier (1854-1923) is a German philosopher who wrote numerous books and essays on the theme of the ethics of death. Strohmeier was born in the small town of Johanngeorgenstadt in the Prussian Province of Saxony. His father, Heiner Strohmeier, worked in the Haberlandmühle iron mill while his mother, Margareta Strohmeier, stayed at home taking care of him and his three sisters. After both of his parents died in the Great Johanngeorgenstadt Fire of 1867, Strohmeier moved to Hamburg, where he began to study philosophy. Strohmeier published his first book, On the Morality of Birth, on his 22nd birthday, the first of three in the Strohmerian Ethics trilogy that includes On the Decisions of Life and On the Decency of Death. In 1889, Strohmeier published his most famous work, Between Two Deaths, which cemented his place as one of the most important thinkers of the 19th century. Until his death in 1923 at the age of 69, Strohmeier continued to publish books and essays. Strohmeier's theories on the morality implicit in a life that inevitably ends in death remain prominent in philosophical, epistemological, and even religious studies worldwide. His works greatly influenced other existential philosophers including his contemporary Friedrich Nietzsche as well as Martin Heidegger and Hannah Arendt. Also, Strohmeier is completely fictional.
