Meal Ticket feel like overhearing a conversation you probably weren't supposed to hear in the first place. Real subtle. Real calculated. Real Chicago.

The documentary understands something a lot of films miss - sometimes survival doesn't look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like people waking up everyday carrying pressure so long it became apart of their personality. And that's what made this hit. Nobody overperformed. Nobody begged for sympathy. It just existed in its truth.

It got that cold coffee shop window energy. Grey skies. Beautiful tension. Ambition sitting across from exhaustion pretending they don't know each other.

And honestly? That restraint is what made it so good to me. The film trusted the audience enough to sit in the discomfort, the silence, the ego, the hunger, all of it.

That's cinema.
