Watched at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Presented as a cinematic experience, what Michal Marczak offers is not a story about the investigation of a missing person, rather an exploration of a men who begins to spiral as the investigation becomes repetitive. With immersive sound design and beautiful camerawork, Marczak perfectly establishes the tone and setting with some interesting direction choices. Instead of using interviews, Marczak presents the characters as observation, where you watch the people interact, reactions and emotions to the situations that are occurring with themselves. The character of Daniel, searching for his missing son, as he begins to grow more desperate and his mental health spiraling is both heartbreaking and sad.

Alongside with good musical score and structure, the thing I love is that unlike other documentaries, the presentation and style feels very cinematic. It allows viewers to feels tense and invested to it's subject and core. Marczak has said that during his Q&A that documentaries should be like movies, and in fact, there is a true statement to it. Sometimes, topics can be made using both cinematic yet documentary approaches at the same time.

While it's runtime does over welcome its stay, I was emotionally effected by this. Imagine having to be a parent, and struggling to find closure must really hurt. Overall, a good documentary.
