Watched at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Documentation about the war in the middle east and battles aren't new, but this refreshing documentary about the perspective of a journalist couple, and their love during documenting the world is both interesting, engaging, and heartwarming. Throughout, both director Janay Boulos and Alkader Habak uses footage they filmed over the years to demonstrate the hard work, tension and brutal realities they face as journalist when exploring war territories and tension. The uses of good editing choices, sound designs and footage throughout helps establish it's atmosphere, tone, and themes.

Interlace with footage of the couple interacting and bonding, the documentary does a solid job on understanding their goals of why they do their work and their love. It humanizes the importance of journalist and why journalism is needed, especially when the topics about war and politics are being displayed in the public. Because of this, I connected with the characters and throughout, certain moments genuinely made me worried a little about their safety.

Although there are some repetitive nature throughout on the pacing and themes, the documentary still succeeds with it's goal and emotional engagement.

Arabic-language cinema spans many regions, with Egypt pioneering popular musicals and melodramas, while Lebanon, Palestine, and North Africa use film as a medium for political expression and memory. Collectively, it expresses Arab identity onscreen and has influenced storytelling across the Middle East.
