Given that I now live in Andalucia and have done so for many years, this latest series of Alan Carr and Amanda Holden's European renovation projects set in the town of Moclin was right down my street.

As before, they seem to unerringly find the most run-down and abandoned house to do their stuff, even if most of that stuff was actually done by their English foreman builder and his support team. I'm going to give the two stars the benefit of the doubt and credit them with the design ideas which Scott and his guys interpret and realise for them, which I suppose is a backhanded compliment as some of the designs really were quite eye-catching.

Just like in the previous series, the duo get to combine work with play as they find time to visit some of the local beauty spots and tourist attractions. One or two of these I was even familiar with, places such as the karaoke bar in Benalmadena where they murder Jason and Kylie's "Especially for You" and the pretty streets of Frigliana.

Again, much was made of Carr's newly divorced status, although at least in this series, we didn't get to see him actually go out on dates with local men. He seems quite happy however, to discuss his private life and even the normally reticent Holden reflected out loud on matters personal to her, such as her ties to her grandparents and sadly the loss of a stillborn child.

Still, the general repartee between the two was as snappy as always, with the usual dash of sauciness and flatulence thrown in for good measure. The end result was another imaginative and successful reclamation, the bed and breakfast property to be put on the open market with the proceeds going to local charities although it's a shame that we don't get to see that part of the programme even as a postscript.

This is inoffensive and amusing light entertainment, combining travel, sunshine and celebrity, a combination which in today's era of shallower viewer expectations, will likely see it re-commissioned for more series for some time to come.
