The film may flirt with BDSM themes but there's a lot more going on beneath the surface. At its core, the film follows Olivia (Alyssa) and Daniel (Sam), a married pair of high powered lawyers working at the same firm. Daniel is the CEO, Olivia is the star litigator. Their seemingly perfect professional partnership collapses when Olivia discovers Daniel is having an affair with Vanessa. Before she can confront them, Ethan (Tim), Vanessa's husband, intervenes and proposes a different approach, revenge.

The plot thickens when Daniel insists Olivia represent an important new client, who turns out to be Ethan. As the two work together on the case and quietly plot payback against their cheating spouses, they begin to form a connection of their own. Whether it counts as an "affair" is up for debate, given the circumstances, but their chemistry is undeniable.

The real strength of the film lies in its leads. Tim delivers a standout performance as Ethan, bringing depth and charisma to a role that could easily have been one note. Alyssa's Olivia is equally compelling, confident, capable, and refreshingly self possessed. She's not a passive character, nor is she overshadowed by Ethan; instead, the film treats them as equals, both emotionally and narratively. In a genre that often leans on clichés, that balance feels like a breath of fresh air.

Yes, the script includes its fair share of cheesy "vertical" lines, it is that kind of film. But it also offers more substance than many of its contemporaries. The story avoids the usual pitfalls: no over the top mean girl antics, no melodramatic parents, and no pointless accusations thrown in for filler. The few slaps that do appear feel earned, especially when Vanessa gets what's coming to her. And when Vanessa throws wine on Olivia? Olivia throws it right back. Satisfying. Just wish there wasn't the usual "kidnap" at the end but I'll forgive them!

The supporting cast also deserves credit. They're well chosen and deliver solid performances, which is more than can be said for many recent entries in the vertical genre. Even better, the film avoids the distracting wave of AI generated voices that's been creeping into similar productions.
