I will be honest I am a middle aged woman and I do not usually watch fight films or anything about the UFC. I thought this would just be about punches and cages and I did not think it was for me. But Journey to the UFC: Joe Pyfer absolutely floored me.

Hearing Joe speak about growing up with an abusive father about the beatings the pain and the scars he carried I sat on my couch with tears rolling down my face. No child should ever live through that. Then learning he was homeless on top of it all my heart ached for him. I wanted to reach through the screen and give him a hug.

And yet this man turned all of that suffering into strength. Even when they showed the horrible moment his elbow snapped in the cage you could see the fire in him to come back stronger. The filmmakers captured not just a fighter but a human being who refused to let trauma define him.

By the end when Joe walked into the UFC with all that courage and heart I was literally standing in my living room cheering him on like he was my own son. I never expected to be this moved by a sports documentary but Joe's journey is about so much more than fighting it is about hope resilience and redemption.

This film broke me and healed me at the same time. Absolutely unforgettable.
