Bavarian centipede baits audience hook, line and stinker

Ultra violent German experimental film from horror indie auteur Andreas Schnaas ('Zombie '90: Extreme Pestilence') stars petite Kostiv as a dance instructor whose gynaecologist boyfriend leads her into a vicious and degrading assault to satisfy his nihilistic and perverted sexual desires.

Lots of prosthetic body parts and graphic, gory imagery, Schnaas' artistic tastes and amateurish technical standards unlikely to endear many audiences, the outrageous visual cruelty might yet repel many hard-gore fans as well. If you consider prolonged, graphic depictions of sexualised violence verboten, then this flick will be best avoided.

Loose plot adheres to a mostly conventional structure but lacks scene progression, the resulting incoherence makes it difficult to follow the narrative which is later revealed to be a type of 'human centipede' inspired psychotic fantasy.

In between vicious (but poorly lit) assaults, characters engage in monochromatic domestic dialogue serving to pad out the flagging runtime (79 mins); there's a couple who discusses how to make authentic Greek tzatziki, another pair share home videos of their spontaneous, romantic trip to Paris, whilst the funniest of these lengthy segues features a shrewish wife mocking her henpecked husband's foul bathroom hygiene, the significance of which will find it's purpose later on in the final, deranged act.

Vulgar black comedy of sorts is a theme blending, genre bending semi erotic fantasy which should make seasoned shock cinema viewers chuckle and cringe in equal measure, and although the lighting and editing is sketchy, it's probably Schnaas' most technically accomplished work to date.
