This horror short film-fittingly released on the Fourth of July-is a bit different from what I'm used to seeing from this director. It's not necessarily a supernatural story; in fact, it could easily be interpreted as a historical reflection on what used to take place in the U. S., particularly during times when racial injustice was more widespread. Or, it might simply be a violent crime story-it all depends on how you choose to interpret it and which elements you focus on. Whether it carries a subtle message about present-day America is also open to interpretation. Either way, it's a compelling little Independence Day piece.
