Wendela Hebbe (1808-1899) became Sweden's first female professional journalist when she was hired at Aftonbladet in 1841. There she wrote about theatre and music, reviewed and translated books. Later, she introduced the social reportage to the Swedish press. She set songs to music and wrote fairy tale books. She was close friends with several of the 19th century's great personalities such as Tegnér, Almqvist, Björnstjerne Björnsson and Hierta.
