Piet tells about the time his crew visited an island to get provisions and eagerly collected a big pile of coconuts. Everyone goes to nap o the beach, but suddenly Steven 'cries' for help as he notices a single coconut moving towards them, as if possessed. When Piet's party gathers the courage to approach and investigate, it turns out the 'motor' is no ghost but a turtle who got buried under their nuts.

Piet tells about the time that Berend, foraging on an island, fell into a dark, deep cavity's hidden entrance. Efforts to hoist him out end with the crew-mates all down, having lost the rope. They venture into the cave, where bats scare the mates, but Piet forces to follow them, guessing right they now a way out.

Piet's pirate ship enters a port on a spooky day. Scaredycat Steven hears howling and is convinced it may be a werewolf. It gets on everyone's nerves as the sound approaches. Luckily when the 'monster' finally arrives, it turns out nothing more then a friendly stray dog checking out the crew.

After Piet reads from a horror stories book, Berend gets them both itchy, susceptible to any suggestion of witch presence. That worsens after Steven finds a black kitten. Later the trio are scared out of their wits by what seems a scolding witch, that turns out just angry and bothersome, not black magic.

Piet tells about the time he and his crew showed little enthusiasm for cook Berend's novel provision, an orange pumpkin. That evening, ever-scared shipmate Steven 'cries' for help as he notices a sinister glow which seems to approach. Piet's party can't find the courage to approach and hides, till Berend turns up, cheerfully showing the pumpkin he used for a big pie and hollowed to use as macabre candle lantern.

Piet tells about the time his non-belief in ghosts was shaken badly. It was night, and the captain saw from his hammock a shape moving, dressed in a white gown. After waking up crew mate, they follow it into the galley, where they find Berend in his new white night-robe.

Piet recalls how horrified his crew was when then slept in the moon light on an island, and felt as if creatures reached out at them. Wihile the trio already runs scared, Piet laughs calming down as he realizes it's only wind-moved tree branches. Yet he avoids 'Monster Island' still, never having told them he also saw a pair of glowing eyes he can't explain.

Piet tells about the time he jumped up to warn the crew-mates when he noticed the date was Friday 13. His precipitation started a series of what felt like painful bad luck for him and all of them, fall, knocking things over, burning themselves. When they were all bruised, the mates resigned to their apparent fate.
