A wonderfully "weird" start from a amazing show

The Amazing World of Gumball was a big part of my childhood, marking an entire era of animation, and now it returns in this revival - which plays out like a true seventh season, carrying the story forward without losing its essence. Ben Bocquelet, the show's creator, never stuck to a formula: his irreverent writing is what keeps this universe alive. And that shows right away in the premiere episode, which manages to be chaotic and creative in just the right measure, reminding the audience why Gumball has always been such a unique cartoon.

In Episode 1, "The Burger," we get a direct satire of food monopolies and the cost of eating well. The burger CEO shows up as a caricature of corporate greed, setting the tone for the social critique while still delivering the absurd humor that defines the series. What's wild is how well the execution balances itself: a clear premise, sharp timing, and wordplay that clicks within the hybrid visuals. This blend ensures the social commentary doesn't come off heavy-handed but stays fun instead. It's a convincing start, a calling card for the revival, reaffirming the show's creative strength.
