The film centres around Colin Hunter's journey to become a wrestling referee. For 10 years prior to making the movie, Hunter was the creator and sole writer of Kayfabe News, a satirical news site considered wrestling's version of The Onion.
The film's theme song is performed by turntablist Vekked, the seven-time World DMC Champion.
