A very interesting and beautiful movie for those who want to get a better grasp at the culture and life in the "sertão brasileiro". The dialogues are great, they capture the essence of life and aging in general in a simple, direct yet beautiful manner. Many lines could be taken in as sayings. The setting is amazing with magnificent sceneries from the Brazilian sertão that capture the rough life of the local people in a seemingly desertic landscape.

However, if you are searching for a movie that explains and helps understand the life of Luiz Gonzaga, this wouldn't be the ideal choice as I felt it didn't deeply explore the upbringings of the singer from Pernambuco but more of his childhood and background. As a Brazilian myself, I did not feel it added much to the understanding of who Gonzaga really is as a person. Additionally, personally, one of the largest weaknesses of this movie was how dragged it often felt, more could've been told. This is especially the case for the ending which felt almost endless.
