The choice to build THE SAMCA FILE as a fake documentary was influenced by the directors' long-standing interest in journalistic investigation, interviews, and non-sensationalist storytelling, rather than traditional horror tropes.
THE SAMCA FILE is inspired by a Romanian folkloric demon, Samca, which the filmmakers deliberately chose in order to ground the story in a strong local myth and give the fake documentary a distinct Romanian identity.
