Intense drama set in the world of start-ups

HOOD (2025) is a great and intense drama about the sale of a start-up bank, set in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The entire movie takes place at a single location, creating a tense atmosphere.

The movie does a very good job of showing the clinch between professional ambition/greed vs. The friendship among the founders of the start-up.

Most impressive about the movie is the actual production of it: it's funded entirely outside the public Danish film funding system, which is unusual in Denmark, and made on an extremely low budget of approximately 700K DKK (about 100K US $).

The movie is directed and written/co-written by a debuting feature film director, Lina Csillag, who along with the rest of the team, has volunteered without initial pay to create this movie.

Huge respect for that and all the effort put into the movie.

Does the film excel in all aspects (writing, acting, editing, sound, cinematography, lighting, directing)?

Not all of them, but few films do - and I would argue it does better than some movies with a higher budget and more experienced director.

I have tremendous respect for people 'stepping into the arena', and trying out a new way of producing movies, just like OBSESSION (2025), which is from the same year and became a huge success, critically and in tickets sold.

Should we encourage these kinds of productions, funded via private investors?

In my opinion, absolutely.

It's a way of allowing room for new original stories and movies to enter the market, without story and production adjustments made by consultant and established producers.

The movie industry is exceptionally hard to create a living from, and sometimes chances need to be taken.

I hope to see more movies produced this way, and I am looking forward to what's next from the director and team behind this movie.
