The most important documentary of the year

Dense, eye-opening film that requires multiple viewings. It is overwhelming in the best sense, layering ideas, images and arguments into a work that continues to reveal meaning. The film is extremely timely, capturing the present moment with unnerving accuracy. The editing is phenomenal and sharp, building up to a bold ending. This should be required viewing, shown to students worldwide as a way to understand and navigate the world as it currently operates. Few documentaries feel this essential, and none in 2025 feel this important. I can't imagine a better use of artificial intelligence. Feels cinematic and poetic at times.

It's packed with ideas that urgently need to be discussed. I came away from the film having learned several genuinely striking facts. It is one of the first films I've seen a while to take a truly realistic look at our times, refusing illusions and propaganda. The use of fake and artificial images to represent the fundamental fakeness of contemporary reality is a deeply unsettling premise. Philosophy, books and quotes used in the film comes at you in a rushing stream, with no break in tempo. The Baudrillard references land cleanly, carried by a quiet irony. It offers a unique and bleak look at social media and technology addiction, making clear how manipulation has saturated everyday life. Original, innovative, and formally bold, Post Truth stands as one of the most relevant films of our technological age.
