Candice explodes. Every day. Sometimes several times a day. 192 times in total. Her body falls apart and reassembles itself. Her heart hangs outside her chest.

The directors say: "What Candice is going through is not an 'adolescent crisis'; it is simply what it means to be a resident of today's world." and "The anger Candice inhabits is the anger of an entire generation that feels completely powerless."

I understand what the film is trying to do. Depression as a literal explosion. The overload of the modern world. Loneliness tearing the body apart. The metaphor is there. Clear and unmistakable.

But it doesn't land.

The video game aesthetic is intentional. VRChat assets, chaotic 3D collages, deliberately fragmented. You can see the work behind it. But it remains surface-level.

The film is abstract. Too abstract. Candice tells her story through voice over, describing her explosions, her thoughts, her isolation. There is a lot of narration. A lot. And it becomes heavy. Difficult to digest.

I listened. I watched. And by the end, I felt like I had been on a trip. Not in a good way. More confused. Exhausted.

The film wants to say something important. About pain, about isolation, about a world that demands too much from us. But the way it says it loses me. The images remain distant. The words fade away.

Sometimes it's not enough to understand a metaphor. Sometimes you have to feel it. And that doesn't happen here.
