Photographer Michael Childers, renowned for his portraits of the icons and legends of popular culture, spent years collecting art with the late Oscar-winning film director John Schlesinger, his partner for 37 years. That life culminated in a collection that filled their Rancho Mirage home. Childers recently curated down the collection when he moved into a high-rise down the road. Reflections of a life well spent, he kept some of his own work along with that of other artists he admires. With the perforated screens on his terrace pulled down to filter the afternoon sun, the view, he says, looks like an Impressionist painting. Like the Impressionist masters who captured the world in reflection, Childers art collection can be seen as a reflection of his life.
