The idea for the film originated when Deah Partak came across a Facebook post shared by Slovak descendant Al Bednar, featuring a 1940s photo of a Slovaktown-based baseball team. After connecting with Al online, Deah traveled to Slovaktown, Arkansas, to meet his relatives, Joe and Virginia Lisko. What began as research for a possible podcast quickly evolved into the concept for a documentary.
