I'm going to cut right to it. I enjoyed this movie. It's erotic, there's a decent story, and the performances are pretty fantastic. What Gush is a sensual film about a woman who fights to regain strength after a loss.

Having loosing her baby in an accident Sally (Ellie Church) struggles with her relationship with her husband Kevin (Jason Crowe) and finishing with completing her book. She decides to head off alone to a cabin to finish her novel but while there she gets visited by a Muse (Alyss Winkler). From here the story takes you down Sally's struggles with dealing with the loss of her child and her dissolving relationship with Kevin and while being enticed by the Muse. In a particular scene Sally watches as the Muse is jerking off Sally's husband in the shower to the point where he passes out before the two of them have a steamy scene over her passed out husband. The reason I point this out is that there was a meaning of Sally watching Kevin and the muse which I found a clever way to tie in things in Sally's personal life.

I noted earlier the performances were good but the clear stand out is Ellie Church. Her portrayal of a broken woman was amazing, especially the scene where she breaks down in the kitchen, and without a doubt one of the top ten performances I've seen in an indie film. Winkler as the Muse was almost on par with Church's. For having little dialogue, in fact none, her body language speaks volumes. The story flows nicely though it does get a tad disjointed in the second act.

In the end Gush is a clever and intriguing film that I will watch again, and not just for the intimacy between Sally and the Muse. It definitely falls into my top five favorite indie films this year.
