A Yellow Circus is a coming of age, art-house film, aimed at black girls who refuse to drown. Mack, Tracy, Amari, and Stephanie are schoolmates and teammates on their basketball team, all in the thick of puberty. En route to a basketball tournament, they are left at the beach, where their pubescent repressions are disturbed by the scorching sun, exposing shore, and unsettling bystanders. By sunset, they've reached a fever pitch that graduates them into womanhood.
