HÆST is a sharp and quirky Icelandic thriller about ordinary people pushed past their limits in a world obsessed with money, power struggles and self-image.

Njáll, a middle-aged sociology teacher and exhausted father of three, is drowning in debt and married to a "burnout influencer" trying (and failing) to monetise her mental collapse. When Njáll discovers that Patti, the school's student union president and star pupil is probably hoarding cash from prom ticket sales, he hatches a desperate plan to steal it to fund his wife's wellness retreat.

To pull it off, he enlists:

• Hólmar a passionate but paranoid history teacher, who is convinced society is collapsing.
• Bonní, a washed-up former football prodigy turned PE teacher with a shady past.
• Ragna, the ambitious assistant principal trapped under an incompetent chauvinistic boss, recently reinstated after a shady lawsuit.

What starts as a simple "victimless" robbery, spirals into a chain of absurd mistakes, moral meltdowns, and accidental revelations. As the plan unravels, unlikely friendships form, loyalties blur, and each character is forced to confront how far they'll go for a taste of riches, control, comfort or redemption.

Fargo meets Oceans Eleven stuck in suburban Iceland. A blend of human desperation, moral chaos and deadpan Nordic humor, wrapped in a Edgar Wright-like visual style and a Henry Mancini-like score.

HÆST balances biting satire with heartfelt emotion, showing how good intentions, bad luck, and a dash of incompetence can turn ordinary lives into criminal farce.
