Shu Qin mentioned Li Dai Soh to Ah Hua. Shu Qin was actually referring to the Singaporean-born broadcaster known for his radio storytelling in the Cantonese dialect on Rediffusion radio in Singapore from the 1950s to the early 1980s.
Since the episode is still set in the 1960s, the talk of Xin Niang of going to university meant that it will be the University of Singapore. Its current name of the National University of Singapore came into being on 6 August 1980 after the merger with Nanyang University.
