David Silverman was originally supposed to direct the film and the film was just going to focus on the animated Pink Panther Character. However Jeff Fowler replaced him as director and the film is actually going to focus on both The Pink Panther animated character and Inspector Clouseau.
Omar Sy is rumored and in talks to star in this movie alongside Eddie Murphy. Omar in an rare interview said that Eddie Murphy is one of his favorite actors and wants to work with him in a future movie together.
This is the first ever live-action film to focus on the Pink Panther and not Inspector Clouseau.

Producer Julie Andrews chose Eddie Murphy to play Inspector Clouseau not only because she and Eddie had a good time filming the Shrek movies together, but she finds Eddie to be perfect to match the style, personality and humor of Peter Sellers' performance as Inspector Clouseau due to he (like Peter) is really good at playing different roles in the same movie.
