Based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Norio Tsukudani. It was originally serialized in Ichijinsha's Waai! magazine, but was later featured in three additional magazines published by Ichijinsha: Waai! Mahalo, Monthly Comic Rex and Febri. Collectively, Himegoto was serialized across the four magazines from November 2011 to June 2015 and was collected into six tankobon volumes.
Prior to and during the series' broadcast, the anime was promoted through an internet radio show hosted by I My Me Mine and produced by Japanese internet radio station Onsen. Titled Shimoshina Seitokai no Himegoto Radio, it was broadcasted from April 16, 2014 to September 24, 2014. The show was also released on six compilation CDs and DVDs from July 1, 2014 to October 18, 2014.
Himegoto was released on Blu-ray on November 26, 2014 in Japan.
