"A boxing match is like a western movie: there are the good guys and the bad guys. The audience wants to see the bad guys defeated by the good guys without realizing that often the roles are reversed". It is with this quote that the short film Angel's Chest written, directed, and edited by Carmine Cristini concludes. In the aforementioned work, it is possible to observe the depiction of the daily life of Luigi Mantegna, one of the good ones.

Luigi, known as "Angel's Chest", is a 48-year-old man from Ceccano who began his boxing career back in 2006 and celebrated its conclusion in 2024. Over these 18 years as a professional (27, including his amateur years), he fought 120 matches, winning only 2 without ever losing by KO, meaning he was never knocked out before the fight was over. In boxing jargon, Mantegna is referred to as a "journeyman", meaning a boxer whose role is to help increase the experience and records of younger fighters; in simple terms: a professional loser. But Luigi is not a loser in his life. His career is marked by solidarity, sacrifice and helping others, where the defeats were not seen as failures but as opportunities to fully dedicate himself to his passion.

In everyday life, as can be seen from the short film, once the boxing gloves are hung up, he is no longer "Angel's Chest", but simply Luigi. He is the man whose alarm rings before dawn, who loads his van and heads to the local markets to work as a street vendor; or, he is "Louis", the host of the radio program "Approccio ai Caraibi" on Radio Centro Fiuggi. The work aims to honor this man and his life, which is made of dedication, humility, sacrifices, kindness, and, above all, simplicity. And Cristini succeeds brilliantly in his goal, showing all of this with genuineness and without exaggerating anything, allowing the daily events to unfold on camera just as they are.

The soundtrack, composed by Federica Orazi, perfectly marks the moments of his daily routine, building up to reach the explosion in the sequence showing Mantegna's last match, fought on December 27, 2024, which made him a winner. Here, the musical notes give way to the cheers and the warmth of the crowd, who have never left him throughout all these years and, in fact, have always accompanied and supported him with the same affection during his journey.

Luigi, "Louis", "Angel's Chest" Mantegna was not a champion in his sport, but he is certainly a champion in life. Throughout all this time, he has not collected trophies or medals, but he has gathered something far more important: gratitude and recognition. Finally, I would like to add that his figure can serve as an example for many in terms of generosity and personal sacrifice, and how one should not fear showing weakness in front of others but rather use those vulnerabilities as a source of pride and glory.

Today, we want to give back some glory to someone who, for 27 years, put aside his pride and, with a smile, accepted the bitter taste of defeat without ever taking it personally.
