When Martha, Mikkel and Mats' mother has an accident, the three siblings have to stay their grandmother who they have hardly ever met. What feels like the worst summer of their lives slowly but surely turns into something very special.

For many years, Inge has lived alone in her thatched-roof house on the Schlei. There's neither a telephone nor road access here. The solitary old woman lacks none of these things. For years, there's been no communication between her and Martha, Mikkel, and Mats' parents - and yet the grandchildren are allowed to stay. It won't be easy. Things are a bit rougher than usual with "Grandma," as little Mats calls the stranger Inge. Martha is the eldest; she feels responsible for her brothers and bravely tries to make the best of her time. Little by little, the trio cracks Grandma's hard shell and arrives in Sommerby's analog world, which has so much to offer: Martha steers the boat alone to deliver jam. Mikkel and Mats look after the chickens, they all make friends, and together they unexpectedly become heroes when a real estate agent threatens their now beloved summer idyll.
