One of Grace's neighbors tells here that someone saw her headless as she was on the way home from work the "other night". She should not be walking home from work on a night, because she was on a night shift. In the beginning of the film, Irene was going home from her office and it was already daytime, probably early morning as there were already several people at the market. It was later established when Irene told her daughter that she was on a night shift and she could not spend her nighttime sleeping together with her.
