They drank for real during the shoot. In many scenes, you can hear them mumbling their lines--and that's because they were actually drunk. At one point, Michael Boye Andersen couldn't even remember the end of a take due to the heavy drinking.
Because the crew changed the ending and recast the part of Erik, the last part of the episode had to be shot again.
