This short documentary explores the collaboration between some members of the fishing industry and the scientific community in the pursuit of ocean sustainability. While the fishing industry is sometimes seen as at odds with conservation efforts, many fishermen recognize the value of scientific research and have a long history of working alongside experts to protect marine ecosystems for future generations. This piece looks at some of the collaboration currently taking place in the Northeast states, specifically efforts to create line-less fishing gear so as to eliminate line entanglements with the North Atlantic Right Whale.
