The episode starts with Francine worried about her strained relationship with Gwen. She's referencing the events of Now and Gwen (2014), which first aired two months after the last episode which aired on Fox. This scene appears to be for the benefit of any viewers who haven't seen or kept up with the non-Fox episodes, to catch them up on some of what they missed.
