CommonX Podcast (2024)

Trivia

CommonX Podcast

The origins of CommonX trace back to a crackling bonfire in Ian Primmer's backyard, where fate, friendship, and a shared vision for a new kind of podcast converged. Ian and Jared Mayzak first met through their wives, but it wasn't long before the conversation turned to Ian's social media success with GENXDAD on TikTok. At the time, Ian was looking for ways to help a mutual friend grow their podcast, while Jared-quick-witted and full of ideas-saw an even bigger opportunity.

Recognizing the potential of their combined voices, Jared envisioned a show that would capture their sharp humor, insightful takes, and Generation X perspective. That's when Ian posed the question that set everything in motion: "Why don't we start the first true Gen X podcast?"

The timing was perfect. Gen X was gaining momentum as an online movement, with GENXDAD already leading the charge. What began as a casual backyard chat quickly evolved into CommonX-a podcast built on raw conversation, cultural commentary, and the unmistakable chemistry of two hosts who knew how to balance wit with wisdom. The rest, as they say, is history... or at least a "really" good episode.

Curb Fail Productions (2025)
When CommonX first launched, Ian Primmer introduced it as CommonX with Jared and Ian, while Jared Mayzak called it CommonX with Ian and Jared. Both co-hosts were committed to staying humble and respecting one another, despite barely knowing each other at the start. However, thanks to Ian's relentless dedication to the brand-posting 3-5 promotional videos a day across social media-the name ultimately stuck as CommonX with Jared and Ian. This wasn't just persistence; it was also a reflection of Ian's deep respect for Jared's wit and charisma, recognizing the unique dynamic they brought to the show.
Co-Host Ian Primmer sent 1,000 unanswered emails pitching CommonX when the show first started. Emails #1,001 and #1,002 landed Rudy Sarzo and Sid Griffin. Woah, Persistence paid off.
