"An Old Taboo" (Een Oud Taboe) (1983) is a groundbreaking docu-drama that follows Lex, who discovers he has a sexually transmitted disease. The film captures his journey from doctor visits and informing his partners and family, to treatment and, ultimately, healing. A bold exploration of stigma and health, this was the first in a series of medically themed films by Molenaar and Van Wijk, combining Van Wijk's medical background with Molenaar's activism in the women's liberation movement.
