While it was likely some pilot episodes were trialled first, this was the first broadcast episode from Bob Monkhouse's run to be recorded.

All of the Bob Monkhouse Wipeout episodes were recorded without a studio audience for time, and the sound of laughter/applause, etc., dubbed on later.

This edition sees contestant Neil Drummond let down by the process, where his opening chat with Bob has him recounting how he completed the 1991 London Marathon. Whereas a real audience may have given an appreciative gasp or applauded, there's no post-production noise added to this moment, meaning Neil's feat is met with complete silence.

There's a slightly different atmosphere in this edition, as the three contestants - particularly the two male contestants - talk repeatedly among themselves, which threatens to undermine Bob's position as effective master of ceremonies.

As the first episode recorded by Bob Monkhouse, then his habit of discussing whether answers are correct or Wipeouts before the board reveals them - and arguably removing suspense from the game as a result - has yet to fully emerge at this stage.

Bob discusses a single answer on an Auction Grid about citrus fruits, and his later habit emerges in full for an Auction Grid on characters from the Bible. However, the third Auction Grid sees him return to letting the board reveal the answers first.
