When John Cleese is chosen as a Wipeout answer on a grid, Bob gives the unusual pronunciation of "Cleese", something which is echoed by a contestant saying the surname after him.

While the majority of people pronounce his last name as "Cleeze", and his father's surname was originally "Cheese", which supports this pronunciation, John Cleese himself admitted that his mother pronounced it with an S, while his father said it with a Z.

The final grid - movies featuring Madonna - would reappear as a grid in Episode #9.92 (2002).

Three of the same answers appeared on both grids: "Who's That Girl", "Dick Tracy" and "Body of Evidence".

Bob seems determined to use more "low key" catchphrases during his presenting of Wipeout, and corrects himself at the end of this edition for almost forgetting one.

Telling the qualifying contestant she's about to play the final game, he says "Your minute starts", before correcting himself and changing it to "A minute to win it".

While Bob tells contestant Ian that he's "jolly" and wishes he could play Wipeout every day, his opening chat is notably shorter than with the two female players. It suggests that there wasn't much in the way of jokes during their chat, and it was edited for time.
